In the recent past, unseasonal rains have caused heavy damage to the tomato crop, while in many states, due to intense heat, its production has declined. Apart from this, the production of tomatoes has also been affected due to Cyclone Biparjoy. Gujarat and Maharashtra are also among the top tomato producing states, where an outbreak of biparjoy was observed. This year there has been a decline in production due to less sowing, which can be attributed to the price hike.
Farmer Chandramouli said that rare tomato plants were planted in 22 acres of agricultural land. Monitored it and met every need of the plant with techniques like irrigation. We have been growing tomatoes for many years and our experience has benefited this year.
